The Leukemia Division Team

Division Chief

Hematologist/oncologist Stuart L. Goldberg, M.D., specializes in treating all types of leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes with a variety of treatment modalities, including chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. Dr. Goldberg led a team of researchers in the Division of Leukemia that participated in international clinical trials that were integral to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of Gleevec and Sprycel, two revolutionary new targeted therapies to treat chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Gleevec, approved in 2001, and Sprycel, approved in 2006, work by turning off the abnormal protein in cancer cells produced by the Philadelphia chromosome that causes CML. More.
