The Breast Oncology Division comprises a specialized team of professionals, who are dedicated to preventing, diagnosing, treating, and managing breast cancer. The breast oncology team brings together experts in surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and nursing. This specialized approach to treating breast cancer provides patients with the exact type of services they need to battle the disease and its physical, emotional, and social side effects.
Recently, the Breast Oncology Division received Disease Specific Care Certification from the Joint Commission, scoring perfectly with no recommendations for improvement.
Breast Surgery is a division of the Department of Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, with a team of on-site full-time breast surgeons. The division’s multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment includes working closely with a team of surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, oncologists, specialized nurses, and exp erts at the medical center's Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care.

Pre-and Post-Operative Breast Surgery Program
The Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care offers a comprehensive pre- and post-operative program to help patients understand and manage all aspects of their breast surgery. In addition to one-to-one counseling, each patient receives a free post-operative kit, funded by a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The kit includes a lightweight after-surgery breast prosthesis and mastectomy bra, as well as an educational book. Call 201-996-2200.

MARY JANE WARDEN, M.D.
Acting Co-Chief, Breast Oncology
Mary Jane Warden, M.D. specializes in diseases of the breast and breast cancer, and is the acting co-chief of breast oncology at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. She is also the senior attending surgeon in the division of Breast Surgery. Dr. Warden graduated cum laude from Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Read full bio.
