Donna McNamara, M.D

Donna McNamara, M.D., Co-Chief of the Gynecologic Oncology Division and Medical Oncologist for the Breast Oncology Division, specializes in treating women with gynecological malignancies, particularly ovarian cancer, as well women with breast cancer.

Prior to joining Hackensack University Medical Center, Dr. McNamara completed the Hematology-Oncology program at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia and the Internal Medicine Residency program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame, IN and completed her medical education at Loyola University of Chicago, IL. Dr. McNamara is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Dr. McNamara has an established background in research and has been published in national cancer treatment journals. She maintains professional affiliations with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Gynecologic Oncology Group, the American Society of Hematology, the American Medical Association (AMA), and is an associate with the American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM).

Special areas of interest include gynecological oncology, family risk assessment and palliative care.  Dr. McNamara was Assistant Investigator in GOG-9914: A Dose-Escalating Phase I Study with an Expanded Cohort to Assess the Feasibility of CT-2103 (IND #61013) and Carboplatin (NSC #214240) in Patients with Previously Untreated Epithelial Ovarian, Primary Peritoneal, or Fallopian Tube Carcinoma.  Her research has been published in the Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Click here for a list of John Theurer Cancer Center Gynecologic Oncology clinical trials.
